The Motorola Droid X is an Android-based smartphone by Motorola, distributed by: Verizon Wireless in the US and Iusacell in Mexico
The smartphone includes Wi-Fi capability, HDMI output, 1.0 GHz TI OMAP3630-1000 processor, a 4.3" FWVGA LCD display, 3G wireless hot-spot capability, GPS, text to speech, live traffic and an 8-megapixel camera with 720p video recording, a dedicated physical camera button and — as of version 2.2 of the Android operating system — a shutter button on the touch screen. Memory includes 8 GB of internal flash memory and a 16GB MicroSD card (upgradable to 32GB) — providing total memory expansion up to 40 GB. In lieu of a physical keyboard, the smartphone uses an on-screen keyboard, including a Swype enabled virtual keyboard as well as a multi-touch QWERTY keyboard.[3][4] The most recent Android operating system available to the Droid X is Android version 2.2.1.

History

The Droid X formally debuted on July 15, 2010 following a teaser spot on YouTube posted on June 21, 2010,[5] update of the official Verizon Droid series website, droiddoes.com, that day with basic specifications and release of further details at a June 23rd press conference.
Verizon released the Droid X at an initial price of US$199 (after $100 rebate) with a 2 year contract[5] Customers with a Verizon contract ending in 2010 can upgrade.[6][7] or $569 without contract.
The Droid X was subsequently released in Mexico as the Motorola Motoroi X on November 16, 2010 on the Iusacell network.

Root access & Hidden menus

Texas Instruments includes eFUSE technology in their TI OMAP processors, including the ones in the Droid X, Droid 2, and the original Droid. Motorola officially said they do not use this to restrict the Droid X, or any other phone from booting with a custom ROM. [8]
Like many of the other "Droid" devices, there is a hidden menu that can be accessed by typing *#*#4636#*#* from the Dialer application. It will bring up 5 categories: Phone Information, Battery Information, Battery History, Usage Statistics, And Wifi Information
